Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to You...
Happy Birthday Dear Jacob, Happy Birthday to You!!! Memorial Day (May 26th) my Jacob will be 3 years old. We celebrated his birthday May 24th with friends and family. We had a great party with about 35 people. Our home was filled with red and blue balloons as well as eight helium filled birthday balloons. We had birthday banners and streamers -- it was very festive! Our menu included beef and chicken fajitas with all the extras and pizza (for the kiddos). The kids had a wonderful time playing. They decorated cookies, which was a huge success. Jacob's cake was actually a brownie in the shape of a crocodile. He was a pretty big hit! I made cupcakes as well. Our house is now filled with many presents

This is INCREDIBLE
I was sent this e-mail a week or so ago and love watching this video. It is INCREDIBLE. The song is Who I Am by Casting Crowns.

Just Gatorade today!
I learned my lesson from yesterday's events and just gave Jacob Gatorade. It is hilarious because he calls it "alligator". We went shopping for groceries earlier today and we went down the juice aisle, which had his "alligator". He picked an orange "alligator". He loves it over ice, it is his beverage of choice when he can't have Big Red (which that will be a loooooonng time!)
His rash is not as red, although it is still all over his forearms and cheeks. He has a runny nose and sneezing, just in time for his party on Saturday.
We are working on our home tonight. Ryan and his dad are going to put in the trim in our spare bathroom. I will be painting more in the kitchen, behind the fridge (the fun part!) and above the cabinets. I am sure Jacob will assist us all.

Big Red
Today Jacob had his first full can of soda minus a sip from Mommy. We went to Wal-Mart to pick up his birthday photos and I had forgotten his sippy cup at home. I only had 50 cents in change, so I got him a soda from the machine. He got a Big Red. His first question was, "Is it picy (aka spicy)?" I told him was a little spicy, but not too much. His next question was, "It for me?" I took one sip and said, "Yes." He was delighted. We picked up the photos and then got a couple things and by the time we finished at Wal-Mart he was finished with his soda. He did have to carry it into the car (which I was not too pleased with) so that he could put it in our recycle bin at home :-)
His pictures turned out pretty well, although I think his 2nd year photos were better. There is a little section of his hair that is sticking out. It is pretty noticeable. I'm not quite sure how the photographer and I missed it when were were looking at the photos on the screen. Oh well, they are still adorable.
His rash actually appears to be somewhat better today. Maybe because we have been in the house most of the day. Now he has a runny nose and some sneezing. Darn these allergies!!! I am loading him up with Children's Zyrtec on top of his normal allergy meds. Hopefully, he will be back to normal for his party on Saturday.
Speaking of his party, we are expecting about 30-35 people. Every day Jacob asks if it is his birthday yet. I am getting really excited too! Our house is looking great and we have only a few things left to do before Saturday.

Jacob has Fifth Disease
Just a quick update... I took Jacob with me today for my annual skin check at my dermatologist's office. He had developed what we thought was a "rash" on his face and arms, so I wanted to see what she (my dermatologist) thought. She took one look at him and said it was Fifth Disease. You can read more about it HERE. It is caused by a virus and is not serious. She said it will go away on its own in the next week or so. I am hopeful it all clears up before his birthday party. He doesn't seem to be in any distress, but it does look pretty bad. Notice his cheeks in the past few pictures. Today, his checks look twice as red as yesterday :(

My Crocodile
Check out my crocodile cake!!!
Angie (Matt's girlfriend) sent this
adorable silicone cake pan
(croc shaped) to me. She picked it
up at a grocery store in Arizona.
THANKS ANGIE :-)
I am going to make this for Jacob's
3rd birthday party. I had to practice and
only had a brownie mix on hand so he is
a brownie with fluffy vanilla icing.
I need to make him a little more
green next time! Here he is!

Jacob -- not so happy about getting his picture taken!
Eating cake
A couple of pictures of Jacob eating the rest of a cake that I was about to throw out. It was a few days old and I told him that he could eat whatever he wanted of it. He was thrilled!!! He only ate a few bites, which I new he would, but he was excited about the fact that he didn't have to eat off a plate!

Just another Manic Monday...
Not such a busy day, but that was just what we needed. We cleaned the house in the a.m. and then went over to Mimi's house for lunch to see Uncle T. He (and a couple of friends) were on their way back to San Antonio from a weekend in Louisiana. Jacob loves his Uncle T! He kept telling me, "You tell Uncle T to play me." It was hilarious. We had a great late lunch and then Jacob played with all the guys. Ryan was even able to get off early to see his baby brother.
Our lunch was so late that we really didn't have to worry about eating dinner. We came home and Ryan (and Jacob) worked on the fence construction. It is really coming along, I will have to post pictures of it when it is complete.

Our 6th Anniversary
Today marks our 6th wedding anniversary. Wow, how the years have flown by. I am so happy to celebrate 6 years being married to the love of my life. Happy Anniversary Ryan!

Building a fence

Here are a few pictures of Ryan and Jacob, mainly Ryan, constructing a fence. This fence will keep our dogs sectioned off behind our garage. We are putting this fence in so that the dogs will be separate at times while Jacob and his friends are playing outside. There are actually several reasons for it, but that is the main one. Ryan tried to get Jacob's hand print set into the wet concrete before it hardened. Not sure if it took, but we have a couple more tries.
On a funny note, Ryan has several bags of concrete sitting in the grass waiting to be used. Draco lifted his leg (and, yes marked one) while we were outside admiring Ryan's hard work. Ryan didn't think it was quite as funny as I did.

Our day...
I took Jacob to Pump-it-Up this morning where we met up with one of his friends. They had such a great time. We even had a buy one get one free (admission) coupon, so they both got in for a grand total of $6! I figured that Jacob would be exhausted and ready to go at 11am. Nope, he screamed and kicked the entire way to the car, screaming, "I want to play more..."
This afternoon we went over to pass out birthday invitations to our neighbors, as Jacob's b-day is only 18 days away, 16 till his party! Anyway, we visited for awhile, but that didn't tire him out either.
Jacob played with one of our neighbors this afternoon until about 5pm. Now he is tired. I put him in the tub, so at least he will be clean when he crashes for the night!

errands and such
Jacob's favorite... mommy dragging him from store to store. We did have a long string of errands to run today, but we made it through them all. Jacob was especially "fired up" by the time we got home. We played with his play-doh a few times, painted, watched "Caillou and Little Bear" countless times, we played chase, and we ate -- all of his favorites. I figured that he would take a long nap and I would have time to get my housework done. His nap was about 45 minutes, in that time I started the laundry and swept the floors. Then one of my friends called and that ended my cleaning spree. Jacob woke up while I was still on the phone :( Oh well, there will always be more housework.
Tomorrow, one of Jacob's friends is coming over for the morning to play. He is looking forward to that for sure. I am so hopeful that our weather will improve so that the boys can play outside.

Company Party
Here are some photos from Ryan's company party that we went to today. Jacob had such a great time. He would have stayed all day.Ryan left the house at 6am to play in the golf tournament (more about that in a second). Jacob and I didn't leave until 10:30am. We stayed until 3:30pm, but Jacob wasn't ready to leave.
He rode the boat ride about 20 times and the carousel about 15
times. He went up (and down) the huge slide too many times to count. For such a little guy, it didn't intimate him at all. There were bounce houses spread throughout the ranch, and he visited each several times. The playground was lots of fun. Jacob loved the airplane and the firetruck. We put him on the tire swing, as all the other (regular) swings were occupied. It was his first time to ride a tire swing and he had a blast!!! Ryan took him to feed the turtles, which Jacob really enjoyed. I think his favorite was riding the boats. We didn't have a chance to go on the hayride or to go down the lazy river. Jacob wasn't so keen about getting in the water, as there might be a possibility of getting his HAIR wet!
The lunch was great and there was certainly plenty. Jacob even cleaned his plate.
Ryan's golf tournament lasted forever. He still had about five holes to play after we arrived at 11:30am. His team came in 3rd place in the tournament. They won a box of golf balls. Personally, Ryan won the "Longest Drive". He received a plaque and an American Express gift card. Way to go Ryan :-)
That's it for now. We are exhausted...

5.2.08
We had a busy day today. This was our last meeting for MOPS of the semester. We won't start again until the fall, after school starts. Today's meeting was a lunch for the leadership team. It was very nice.
Ryan took Jacob to the driving range tonight to practice their swings. Ryan is in a golf tournament tomorrow (hosted by his office). Jacob has such a great time playing and running around. He told me, "you have to had the ball on the wood" (meaning the tee). So cute!
Tomorrow is Ryan's company party at H&H Ranch in Houston. They have a lazy river, carousel, bounce house, clown, and magic show. Jacob will be set! They are also serving a brisket and sausage lunch with all the trimmings. Later in the afternoon they will have hot dogs and popcorn.
Tomorrow is National Scrapbooking Day! Can you believe it has its own day??? I am working on a couple projects for gifts. I am also finishing up a layout with the pups using a quote, "To the world you are someone, but to someone you are the world." Anon. I thought it was beautiful.

I made this frame today
I made this frame today with some items I won from a challenge hosted by http://www.fiskateers.com. I was really happy when I opened a big pkg and found all sorts of goodies. The frame is from the Dollar Tree. I painted the outside and inside edges with black paint. The paper is from Heidi Grace Midnight Kisses collection, as are the embellishments. Now I just need a "family" (preferably mine) to put in the frame :)
